RE: Lake Vista subdivision Nomination
Dear Lake Vista Residents:
This letter confirms the actions taken by the New Orleans Historic District
Landmarks Commission (HDLC) at its meeting of June 14, 2005 concerning
the nomination of the Lake Vista Subdivision.
The Commission voted to indefinitely suspend its jurisdiction over all
single family residences in order to allow for the residents of Lake Vista
to better understand the effects of the nomination and to allow more time
for informed public input on the matter, should they desire this to go
forward at some time in the future.
The HDLC retains jurisdiction over parcels of land containing multi-family
residences. Demolition or new construction of a multi-family building
will still have to be reviewed and approved by the HDLC prior to obtaining
a permit from the Department of Safety and Permits. Jurisdiction is again
limited to property line building setbacks, lot coverages and building
heights as already in place in the Building Restrictions of Lake Vista.
Architectural design is also still excluded from jurisdiction.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact me at
565-7440.
Sincerely,
C. Elliott Perkins
